The Arts and Creativity Lab provides an environment for arts-driven research and technology development, as well as artistic practice and experimentation related to scientific research methods and results.

In brief ….

Sound in Music and the Arts
- Currently our emphasis is on sound in music and the arts. We have a distinctly interdisciplinary approach with musicians and artists as well as psychologists and computer scientists working together on issues around new musical practices.

Recent activity - We just finished hosting the Artist-In-Residence program with 20 artists spending up to 3 months at various research centers around the National University campus as they prepared works for the international Symposium on Electronic Arts (ISEA 2008).

Projects - current funded projects include the Networked Music Ensemble, Listening Strategies, and Interactive audio for games (GAMBIT). We have openings now for postdocs and graduate students!

Space -The A&C Lab is part of the Interactive and Digital Media Institute (IDMI) a research center involving 8 labs from across the university, 3 from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and 5 from Engineering. We are designing and building new space for the IDMI and expect to move in to our new facility in February 2009.
